The organisation

Purpose

MADART Foundation curates contemporary makers who are overlooked by the traditional art world — self-taught, uncategorisable, or falling outside institutional criteria — and shows them at landmark locations in Amsterdam.

The Foundation finances the exhibition: production, presentation material, and a fee for the maker. There is no exclusive contract and no fee to take part. Within the Foundation's programme, the maker keeps one hundred per cent of every sale. The Foundation takes no commission on that sale, and takes no role in representing the maker afterwards.

The purpose registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce reads: to support emerging creative talent, with particular attention to independent artists in niche genres, female makers, artists of colour and makers with a bicultural background, among other things by offering guidance and by creating visible and safe stages.

Policy plan

The policy plan sets out what the Foundation intends to do over the coming years, how it raises and spends money, and how it manages its assets. Its main lines:

• Programme. Three-month seasons, opening on the first Friday of each quarter, tied to established moments in Amsterdam's cultural calendar.
• Support for makers. The Foundation carries the cost of production, presentation and a fee, so that a maker does not have to price those costs into the work.
• Income. Cultural subsidies, private and corporate donations, and partnerships — and, once the agreement between the two organisations is in place, a share of the annual turnover of Curated by MADART.
• Assets. The Foundation holds no more capital than is reasonably needed to carry out its work.
• On dissolution. Any remaining balance goes to an organisation with a comparable public benefit purpose.

Board

The board of Stichting The Bloys has been in office since 5 February 2026 and is jointly authorised.

Kimberly Tanikromo holds full power of attorney as managing director and is responsible for production, partnerships and grant management. Justin Karijoredjo is founder and curator, and is responsible for the curatorial line.

Remuneration

Board members receive no remuneration for their work as board members. Reasonable expenses incurred in carrying out the work of the Foundation may be reimbursed against receipt.

The Foundation has no employees. Makers receive a fee for their participation, and production and presentation costs are carried by the Foundation rather than by the maker.

How makers are selected

Selection follows a written policy. Every submission is tested against the curatorial framework The Dimensions and against two further criteria: an independent market position, and a non-linear path. Every assessment is recorded, including the reason when we decline. A maker who is declined receives that reason. We approach makers ourselves, through our own research and through the network; there is no open call at the moment.

The founder-curator holds an interest in a commercial organisation working in the same field. That interest is permanent, is recorded here rather than declared case by case, and is confirmed each year in the annual report. Selection of a maker gives that commercial organisation no right of representation, no commission and no exclusivity.

Activities

Season 01 — PARADOX. NIO House Amsterdam, 1 April to 1 July 2026. Full documentation is being assembled and will be published here.

Season 02 — GROUND. NIO House Amsterdam, fourth floor, 3 July to 30 September 2026. Nineteen makers on the fourth floor, presented alongside eleven makers at Maison d'Artiste on the sixth and seventh floor during GLUE Amsterdam, 17 to 19 September 2026. Visitor numbers are published once the season closes.

Relationship with Curated by MADART

Curated by MADART is the trading name of a separate commercial organisation. It produces cultural experiences for brands and partners. The ecosystem is designed so that a share of its annual turnover goes to MADART Foundation; that arrangement is being laid down in a written agreement between the two organisations, and it does not carry the programme yet. Until it does, gifts and subsidies pay for the room.

The two are kept apart in presentation, in data and in payment flows. Every transaction between them is agreed in writing at market rates and logged in a transaction register.

During Maison d’Artiste 2026, 17 to 19 September, the exhibition, the makers and the daytime programme are the Foundation’s and free to enter. The Opening Night on 17 September is ticketed by the Foundation as an evening opening of that same exhibition; the production of the evening is bought in from Curated by MADART at market rate, agreed in writing and entered in the transaction register. Lunch is sold by the café on the first floor, operated by Vermaat, and invoiced by them; the Foundation receives no part of it.
