RAIDER

Scoop, a traveller from elsewhere, met in three states: cast in resin, laid over with its own sketches, and in three portraits whose animated eyes look back.

RAIDER with a Scoop sculpture

02Practice

Art can be more than form and color. It can be a world to step into, where imagination takes shape and stories unfold. My work tells a story through my creation, Scoop, a curious traveler observing our world, learning from human behavior and reflecting it back to us.

In my mixed media works, I bring physical form and digital animation together to reconsider the portrait, asking: what if an artwork could look back? Scoop’s moving eyes return the viewer’s gaze, shifting the relationship between observer and observed.

With Hear See Silence, Scoop turns its curiosity toward our senses. By copying human behavior and reflecting it back to us, it offers a fresh perspective on how we see, hear and experience silence.

03Why this maker, and where

INLINE asks what it means to make something in a world that always exists somewhere else too. RAIDER’s work has lived in both places from the start. Scoop began as a drawing, took shape in 3D-sculpting software and was first printed in 2020; the figure has moved between screen and object ever since. In Gallery 1 it appears in three states at once: as a hand-painted resin figure, as a silkscreen, and as a portrait that moves.

The three Eyes on Me works that make up Hear See Silence are where the two worlds meet in a single surface. The body is a print on Dibond; the eyes are a digital animation. Each panel takes a human habit — listening through headphones, looking through dark glasses, a hand held to the mouth — and plays it back. A portrait is usually the thing being looked at. These return the look.

Scoop from Scratch, from 2021, runs the other way: the finished figure with its making still on it, notes carrying its sketches and a handwritten set of dimensions laid over the surface. Seen together, the room follows one character from drawing to object to moving image. Give the three portraits a moment. They are watching how you look.

100% of the sale proceeds go to the maker. MADART Foundation takes no commission and holds no exclusive contract. Enquiries go directly to RAIDER.
